﴿ سَيَقُولُ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ إِذَا ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِمَ لِتَأْخُذُوهَا ذَرُونَا نَتَّبِعْكُمْ ۖ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُوا۟ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُل لَّن تَتَّبِعُونَا كَذَٰلِكُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ فَسَيَقُولُونَ بَلْ تَحْسُدُونَنَا ۚ بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴾

“As soon as you [O believers] are about to set forth on a war that promises booty, those who stayed behind [aforetime] will surely say, “Allow us to go with you” - [thus showing that] they would like to alter the Word of God. Say: “By no means shall you go with us: God has declared aforetime [to whom all spoils shall belong].” Thereupon they will [surely] answer, “Nay, but you begrudge us [our share of booty]!” Nay, they can grasp but so little of the truth!”

তোমরা যখন যুদ্ধলব্ধ সম্পদ সংগ্রহের জন্য যাবে তখন যারা পিছনে রয়ে গিয়েছিল, তারা অবশ্যই বলবে, ‘আমাদেরকে তোমাদের অনুসরণ করতে দাও।’ তারা আল্লাহর বাণী পরিবর্তন করতে চায়। বলুন, ‘তোমরা কিছুতেই আমাদের অনুসরণ করবে না। আল্লাহ আগেই এরূপ ঘোষণা করেছেন।’ তারা অবশ্যই বলবে, তোমারা তো আমাদের প্রতি বিদ্বেষ পোষণ করছ।’ বরং তারা তো বোঝে কেবল সামান্যই।
