﴿ وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم بِعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ ٱلْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًۭى وَنُورٌۭ وَمُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَهُدًۭى وَمَوْعِظَةًۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴾

“And We caused Jesus, the son of Mary, to follow in the footsteps of those [earlier prophets], confirming the truth of whatever there still remained of the Torah; and We vouchsafed unto him the Gospel, wherein there was guidance and light, confirming the truth of whatever there still remained of the Torah, and as a guidance and admonition unto the God-conscious.”

আর আমরা তাদের পশ্চাতে মারইয়াম-পুত্র ‘ঈসাকে [১] পাঠিয়েছিলাম, তার সামনে তাওরাত থেকে যা বিদ্যমান রয়েছে তার সত্যতা প্রতিপন্নকারীরূপে। আর আমরা তাকে ইঞ্জীল দিয়েছিলাম, এতে রয়েছে হেদায়াত ও আলো; আর তা ছিল তার সামনে অবশিষ্ট তাওরাতের সত্যতা প্রতিপন্নকারী এবং মুত্তাকীদের জন্য হেদায়াত ও উপদেশস্বরূপ। [১] রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেনঃ “আমি মারইয়াম-পুত্র ঈসার সবচেয়ে বেশী নিকটতম। নবীগণ একে অন্যের বৈমাত্রেয় ভাই; আমার এবং তার মধ্যে কোন নবী নেই।” [বুখারীঃ ৩৪৪২]
