﴿ ۞ لَتَجِدَنَّ أَشَدَّ ٱلنَّاسِ عَدَٰوَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۖ وَلَتَجِدَنَّ أَقْرَبَهُم مَّوَدَّةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَٰرَىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيسِينَ وَرُهْبَانًۭا وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ﴾

“Thou wilt surely find that, of all people, the most hostile to those who believe [in this divine writ] are the Jews as well as those who are bent on ascribing divinity to aught beside God; and thou wilt surely find that, of all people, they who say, "Behold, we are Christians," come closest to feeling affection for those who believe [in this divine writ]: this is so because there are priests and monks among them, and because these are not given to arrogance.”

অবশ্যই মুমিনদের মধ্যে শত্রুতায় মানুষের মধ্যে ইয়াহুদী ও মুশরিকদেরকেই আপনি সবচেয়ে উগ্র দেখবেন। আর যারা বলে, ‘আমরা নাসারা’ মানুষের মধ্যে তাদেরকেই আপনি মুমিনদের কাছাকাছি বন্ধুত্বে দেখবেন, তা এই কারণে যে, তাদের মধ্যে অনেক পণ্ডিত ও সংসারবিরাগী রয়েছে। আর এজন্যেও যে, তারা অহংকার করে না।
