﴿ فَدَلَّىٰهُمَا بِغُرُورٍۢ ۚ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا ٱلشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ وَنَادَىٰهُمَا رَبُّهُمَآ أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمَا عَن تِلْكُمَا ٱلشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُل لَّكُمَآ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ لَكُمَا عَدُوٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ ﴾

“-and thus he led them on with deluding thoughts. But as soon as the two had tasted [the fruit] of the tree, they became conscious of their nakedness; and they began to cover themselves with pieced-together leaves from the garden. And their Sustainer called unto them: "Did I not forbid that tree unto you and tell you, `Verily, Satan is your open foe'?"”

অতঃপর সে তাদেরকে প্রবঞ্চনার দ্বারা অধঃপতিত করল। এরপর যখন তারা সে গাছের ফল খেল, তখন তাদের লজ্জাস্থান তাদের কাছে প্রকাশ হয়ে পড়ল এবং তারা জান্নাতের পাতা দিয়ে নিজেদেরকে আবৃত করতে লাগল। তখন তাদের রব তাদেরকে ডেকে বললেন, “আমি কি তোমাদেরকে এ গাছ থেকে নিষেধ করিনি এবং আমি কি তোমাদেরকে বলিনি যে, নিশ্চয় শয়তান তোমাদের উভয়ের প্রকাশ্য শত্রু ?’
