﴿ ۞ إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَـْٔذِنُونَكَ وَهُمْ أَغْنِيَآءُ ۚ رَضُوا۟ بِأَن يَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴾

“Only they may rightly be reproached who asked thee for exemption even though they were fully able [to go to war]. They were well-pleased to remain with those who were left behind -wherefore God has sealed their hearts, so that they do not know [what they are doing].”

যারা অভাবমুক্ত হয়েও অব্যাহতি প্রার্থনা করেছে, অবশ্যই তাদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগের কারণ আছে। তারা অন্তঃপুরবাসিনীদের সাথে থাকাই পছন্দ করেছিল; আর আল্লাহ্‌ তাদের অন্তরের উপর মোহর এঁটে দিয়েছেন, ফলে তারা জানতে পারে না।
