﴿ وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ بَلْ أَتَيْنَٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ ﴾

“But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away!”

সত্য যদি তাদের কামনা-বাসনার অনুগামী হতো, তাহলে বিশৃংখল হয়ে পড়ত আকাশমন্ডলী, পৃথিবী এবং ওদের মধ্যবর্তী সবকিছুই;[১] পক্ষান্তরে আমি তাদেরকে দিয়েছি উপদেশ, কিন্তু তারা উপদেশ হতে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়। [১] সত্য বলতে দ্বীন ও শরীয়তকে বুঝানো হয়েছে। অর্থাৎ, দ্বীন বা ধর্ম যদি তাদের ইচ্ছানুসারে অবতীর্ণ হত, তাহলে এ কথা স্পষ্ট যে, পৃথিবী ও আকাশের সমস্ত নিয়ম-শৃঙ্খলা ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে যেত। যেমন তাদের ইচ্ছা এক উপাস্যের পরিবর্তে অনেক উপাস্য হোক। যদি সত্যই এ রকম হত, তাহলে কি বিশ্ব-জাহানের নিয়ম-শৃঙ্খলা ঠিক থাকত? অনুরূপ তাদের অন্যান্য ইচ্ছা ও বাসনাও রয়েছে।
