﴿ كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ ﴾

“[To them shall - happen] the like of what happened to Pharaoh's people and those who lived before them: they gave the lie to Our messages - and so God took them to task for their sins: for God is severe in retribution.”

ফিরআউনের বংশধরগণও তাদের পূর্ববর্তীগণের মত তারা আমার আয়াতসমূহকে মিথ্যা মনে করেছিল, ফলে আল্লাহ তাদের পাপের জন্য তাদেরকে শাস্তিদান করেছিলেন। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ দন্ডদানে অত্যন্ত কঠোর।
