﴿ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴾

“However, he who does not have the where­withal shall fast [instead] for two consecutive months before the couple may touch one another again; and he who is unable to do it shall feed sixty needy ones: this, so that you might prove your faith in God and His Apostle. Now these are the bounds set by God; and grievous suffering [in the life to come] awaits all who deny the truth.”

কিন্তু যার এ সামর্থ্য থাকবে না, (তার প্রায়শ্চিত্ত) একে অপরকে স্পর্শ করার পূর্বে একাদিক্রমে দুই মাস রোযা পালন। যে তাতেও অসমর্থ হবে, সে ষাটজন অভাবগ্রস্তকে খাওয়াবে। এটা এই জন্য যে, তোমরা যেন আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূলে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন কর। এ হল আল্লাহর নির্ধারিত শাস্তি-বিধান। আর অবিশ্বাসীদের জন্য বেদনাদায়ক শাস্তি রয়েছে।
