Al-Ankaboot • EN-AL-JALALAYN
﴿ وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴾
“And thus it is: if thou ask them, “Who is it that sends down water from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless?” - they will surely answer, “God.” Say thou: “[Since this is so,] all praise is due to God [alone]!” But most of them will not use their reason:”
And if wa-la-in the lām is for oaths you were to ask them ‘Who sends down water from the heaven and therewith revives the earth after its death?’ They would assuredly say ‘God’ so how can they ascribe partners to Him?! Say to them ‘Praise be to God!’ that the proof has been established against you. Nay but most of them do not realise their contradictiousness in this respect.
