Al-Hijr • EN-TAFSIR-AL-TUSTARI
﴿ وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌۭ ۖ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ ﴾
“AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance:”
�So be forgiving with gracious forgiveness.He [Abū Bakr al-Sijzī] said, �Muḥammad b. Ḥanafiyya related from ʿAlī that regarding His words, So be forgiving with gracious forgiveness, he said: �It is contentment (riḍā) without reproval (ʿitāb).�� And Sahl said:[One should be] without resentment (ḥiqd) or censure (tawbīkh) after forgiving someone; this is to overlook [someone�s misdeeds] graciously (iʿrāḍ jamīl).His words, Exalted is He:
