Al-Haaqqa • EN-TAFSIR-AL-TUSTARI
﴿ وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ﴾
“But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record,”
But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, �Would that I had not been given my book.�That is, because of the foul deeds (aʿmāl khabītha) and disbelief (kufr) contained within it, he wishes that he had never been resurrected and says:
