Al-Israa • EN-TAFSIR-IBN-ABBAS
﴿ وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ بَشَرًۭا رَّسُولًۭا ﴾
“Yet whenever [God's] guidance came to them [through a prophet,] nothing has ever kept people from believing [in him] save this their objection: "Would God have sent a [mere] mortal man as His apostle?"”
(And naught prevented mankind) the people of Mecca (from believing) in Allah (when the guidance) Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur'an (came unto them save that they said) these words: (Hath Allah sent a mortal as (His) messenger) to us?
