Yaseen • EN-TAFSIR-IBN-ABBAS
﴿ وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ ﴾
“NOW HAD IT BEEN Our will [that men should not be able to discern between right and wrong], We could surely have deprived them of their sight, so that they would stray forever from the [right] way: for how could they have had insight [into what is true]?”
(And had We willed, We verily could have quenched their eyesight) verily, We would have quenched the eyes of their error (so that they should struggle for the way) so that they would see the way. (Then how could they have seen) how could they see the way when their error has not been removed?
