﴿ ۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ كَرِيمٌ ﴾

“AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh’s people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:]”

(And verily We tried before them) before the Quraysh (Pharaoh's folk) by punishing them, (when there came unto them a noble messenger) i.e. Moses,
